Nishant Bhagat
Crime fiction where the past refuses to stay buried.
Nishant Bhagat is an author of mystery and crime fiction. His debut novel, The Darjeeling Murders, follows four friends who travel to the misty hills of Darjeeling to document a thirty-year-old killing spree, only to find that the convicted serial killer still denies the most notorious murder of them all. It is a story about memory, obsession, and the secrets small towns keep. His second mystery novel, No Such Guest, is a slow-burn closed-circle mystery set during a cyclone-struck destination wedding in the Andaman Islands, where a young woman is found dead on no guest list, no hotel register, and no ferry manifest.
The Darjeeling Murders
A mystery novel by Nishant Bhagat, available now on Kindle. Four friends travel to the hill town of Darjeeling to reinvestigate a thirty-year-old killing spree, only to fixate on the one murder the convicted killer still refuses to confess. What starts as a documentary project soon puts them at odds with a town that would rather its past stayed hidden.
No Such Guest
No Such Guest is the second mystery novel by Nishant Bhagat. On the morning after a destination-wedding sangeet on Havelock Island in the Andamans, a young woman is found dead on the beach, arranged to look drowned on sand the sea never touched. She wears no identification. Half the wedding remembers her face. Not one guest can give her a name, and she appears on no guest list, no hotel register, and no ferry manifest. As a cyclone seals the island, Ira Venkataraman, the groom's cousin and a former Kolkata Police homicide detective, is trapped with a resort full of witnesses and a victim who does not officially exist. A slow-burn, closed-circle whodunit in the tradition of Agatha Christie and Keigo Higashino.
